Also, it seems that I have to read HunterxHunter, as almost EVERYONE on my f-list reads/writes it. ....I'm stil trying to catch up on ONE PIECE after taking a HUGE hiatus. I have like 200 chapters to read. I'm still in SKYPIEA! Oh, the horror. And yet, still not stopping me from reading current fic. Ah, well.

There is art in the works, but with how busy I am (work + we're renovating here) I have no clue when it'll be posted. Fortunately, Tablet-kun makes it way easier. I make no excuses for my fangirl Japanese!

Also, as school is starting up again, I have given notice at work. I didn't really want to, but I know I won't have time for a job this year. T_T

Still, I have Canada Dry, and that makes me very happy! XD

I've been reading a lot lately about many different things. The whole LJ fiasco mainly, and also a bit about the most recent racism debate.

I wasn't sure about posting this, but I think it's something I ought to say. I certainly don't want to, but that's more my inate shyness than anything. I am anti-confrontation, and these subjects are certainly not that.

First off, the LJ wank. I've read a little of both sides of the argument (enough that I'm not totally in the dark), and there are points to both sides that I agree to. I've come to the decision to just not draw porn anymore. It was never something I particularly felt the urge to do; perhaps I still will if I feel it's really required, but I honestly can't see that happening very often, or at all. As for reading/viewing... I honestly don't have a problem so long as it's not live action of RPS. RPS I have *never* liked; I feel like that's horribly intrusive. As for live action and such, while I love a lot of those fandoms, and I do *want more* than what we're often given by canon...Well, I have a sort of nebulous moral code. Little pg drabbles or shortfic I don't mind, and often enjoy, but I can't help but remember that these are real people, who are just doing their job. It seems abusive, or something like that.

As for the racism debate... This is a sensitive issue. I realize that. People can take offense where none was meant, because everyone sees things differently, and everyone has had different experiences with regards to racism. Living in a mostly-white small rural town in the midwest, I'm a little surprised by how often I've come into contact with racism. Surprised, and disappointed. But, maybe it's not so surprising. This is an issue that's been around for so long, it's practically imbeded in us culturaly, and... I think I'll stop there.

Well, I tried to get my meaning across, but there's a reason I'm an artist, not an author. I think I was fairly clear.

Please, no one - I was going to say don't take offense, but that's probably a pipe dream. Instead, try to understand that this was mostly to help me sort out my own issues on the subjects, and to not feel like I've just buried my head in the sand and ignored everything because it makes me uncomfortable. Even if it's upsetting, these are still things we need to talk about.

Again, I hope this isn't actually as confusing to read as it was to write.

Ah, the weather here is so weird! During July, it was too hot to *live*, and now it's so cold I need a sweater. ^^; Alberta, your weather is too stupid. Seriously, it's like September already here.

On the other hand, it’s also a pleasure when someone else knows the punch line.  It’s like they understand you.  I’m always smiling, because I know a funny joke no one else has ever heard.   But, when Tantei-san, Tantei-han, and Tantei-kun calmly explain my riddles, my heist, or how they saw through my disguise, for a brief moment, it feels like they’re in on the joke too.  And that feeling, of shared jokes and secrets, is a very warm sort of feeling.”

 

“You know a joke no one else does?  That’s why you always smile?”

 

“Yup.”

 

“Well, don’t keep us in suspense.  What is it?”

 

Pause.  “If I told you, it wouldn’t be the joke anymore.  You have to figure it out for yourself.”

It is 30 degrees here (85 F).  I'm in a bikini top and short-shorts, and I'm *still* wearing too much.  Unfortunalely, decency and my lil' sister prevent me from going au natural.

On a sadder note, I have to work on my Grandpa's birthday. T_T  Fortunately, I managed to get my shift trimmed to only 4 hours, so I won't miss *too* much.

First, a brief interlude:  Happy Canada Day, fellow country-people!  *waves tiny flag*

Before I list the projects I'm working on now, I would like to take a minute to list why almost none of them will be done this week.

Work is a bitch.  I like my job okay, but my shifts are inconveniently timed on the best days.

Also, I am helping with my Grandpa's 90th birthday extravaganza (no, really, the party is going to be *huge*), so that's two weekends in a row competely shot.  But see if they can make me leave my sketchbook at home!  I'm bringing it, and I'm going to hole up in a bedroom and draw, dammit!  Try and foil my antisocial plots at your own peril, party planners!  *shakes fist*

So, on to the art:

Comic for  rubynye's awesome fic, Inkblots.  4/9 pages inked.  ETA:  no more than 3 weeks.

Art trade with vespertila.  Not even started.  I know what it is, though. ETA: Next Monday.  It *will* be done by then.

Fanart for a story I can no longer find, but am looking for!  (It involves crossdressing!Tim.) ETA:  dunno, it's on the back burner for a while.  Over half done.

Request from mybatboys.  Not even started, but I know what it will be.  ETA:  Friday?  Hopefully by then.

Comic for my beloved Sezzy, boom92shakalaka.  I'll do it eventually, sis!  It's a pretty cool collage-type thing.  ETA:  Um...

Tripdich thing of the batboys.  I'll be going way out of my depth on this thing, and I hope for a good result!  *crosses fingers*  ETA: End of the month.

Though, in the interest of fairness, Barry was Too Cool, and Batman's "must stay *grim*!" made me fangirl with glee.

Oh!  Oh, yes!  This is my first post from my BRAND NEW LAPTOP!!! It's a cute little acer, 17" monitor (it's almost too big!), dual core, web cam, other stuff that makes me sound like I know what I'm talking about goes here...

Dad and I just spend the past two days buying everything and setting it up.  *gasp!* so much hard work.  *sigh* 

Tomorrow (or tonight after work, I'll see how tired I am) I'm going to copy the rest of my files onto it off of the computer I share with my sister and Mom.

My room didn't have internet access, so Dad and I drilled a hole through the study wall and my floor so we could run up a cable!  o.O  So, I had to move around my furniture a bit (the cable wasn't long enough for where I had my desk.)

All in all, it was a tiring but satisfying process.
